Welcome to my website. What you'll find here is about my nesting boxes, both equipped with cameras to view inside. Other than that, there's a little about me, my interests, and where I live.

April 2009: The blue-tits have started to build their nest. You can have a look what is happening inside the nesting box by viewing the webcam here. This is a live streaming webcam showing real-time video. The camera will be running continuously during the nesting season.

November 2008: The nesting box was taken down for cleaning. The wood was starting to rot, and water was beginning to get inside, so I have replaced it with a new box, and also replaced one of the infra-red LEDs which had failed. I wondered if the blue-tits might not trust the new box, but need not have worried. The very next night there was a blue-tit roosting in there! Hopefully, we will have a nesting pair during 2009.

There is also a camera inside my Owl Box, located in a nearby ash tree. Occasionally I select the webcam to view in this box. You can easily tell which box is selected; the owl box is rather deep, with the camera looking downwards into it, and there is no hole for the birds to enter. |At the moment, there is no activity inside this box.
2009: April 15, she has started to build her nest.

May 2, Six eggs in the nest.

May 3, seven eggs.

May 17, three of the eggs hatched this morning.

June 5, the two young birds fledged this morning and the nest is now empty. 

 As last year, I am not going to post still images from inside the box. However, I will post significant events and dates.

2008: April 4, she has started to build her nest.

May 7, she is now sitting seven eggs.

May 19, two eggs have hatched.

June 8, the six young blue-tits fledged this morning. The box is now unoccupied, and will probably remain so until next winter. 

 Because there seems no point in keep posting stills of blue-tits inside the box year after year, I have discontinued this for now.

The live webcam gives a far better idea of activity in the box, and uses better streaming technology than previously.

2007: June 11, the nest has been complete for 2 months now, with no signs of any eggs being laid. The mother has not been seen either, so it looks like we are not going to get any young this year.This will be the first time in more than seven years that we have not had a nesting blue-tit in this box.
2006 nesting season. Again, just as last year, the blue-tits have started to build nest much later than in the past. Nesting Box 1
2005 nesting season: Very much later than expected, a pair of blue-tits have started to build their nest in box 1.

2004 nesting season:  Since early October 2003, there has been a blue-tit roosting in each box, and now the blue-tit in box 1 has built her nest. See pictures taken at intervals as she lays the eggs and rears her young.

2003 nesting season: There has been a blue-tit roosting in each box every night since last November. Have a look at the pictures from inside the nesting boxes.
